# Bishop
## Catechism of the Catholic Church
One who has received the fullness of the Sacrament of [[holy-orders|Holy Orders]], which makes him a member of the episcopal college and a successor of the Apostles. He is the shepherd of a particular church entrusted to him ([[2.2.3.6.p4u#^ccc-1557|1557]]; cf. [[1.2.3.9.p29#^ccc-861|861]], [[1.2.3.9.p2a#^ccc-886|886]]).
