# Creed ## Catechism of the Catholic Church A brief, normative summary statement or profession of Christian faith, e.g., the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed. The word "Creed" comes from the Latin _Credo_, meaning "I believe," with which the Creed begins. Creeds are also called Symbols of Faith ([[1.2.0.0.p14#^ccc-187|187]]).
