# Divorce
## Catechism of the Catholic Church
The claim that the indissoluble marriage bond validly entered into between a man and a woman is broken. A civil dissolution of the marriage contract (divorce) does not free persons from a valid marriage before God; remarriage would not be morally licit ([[3.2.2.6.p87#^5d6412|ccc-2382]]; cf. [[2.2.3.7.p55#^ccc16e|ccc-1650]]).
