# Mental Prayer ## The Way of Perfection MENTAL PRAYER. In mental prayer we speak to God, know and are aware that we are with him and speaking with him and understand who we are who dare speak with so great a Lord ([[tj-way-ccel-25|25.3]]; [[tj-way-ccel-22|22.8]]). The time of prayer does not belong to me but is God's time ([[tj-way-ccel-23|23.3]]). The Lord teaches many things to anyone who wants to be taught by him in prayer ([[tj-way-ccel-06|6.3]]). It is a path, along which we journey, having a beginning, middle, and an end ([[tj-way-ccel-19|19.2]]; [[tj-way-ccel-20|20.2]]–[[tj-way-ccel-20|3]]). One must have a great determination to persevere ([[tj-way-ccel-21|21.2]]). A great treasure is gained by traveling this road; consolation, in different ways, is never lacking along this path (20).
