She entered the Society of Saint Teresa of Jesus (Teresian Sisters), a congregation founded by Saint Henry de Ossó y Cervelló in the Teresian Carmelite spirit, taking the name Maria of the Sacred Heart. She was killed by firing squad in Barcelona on July 24, 1936, during the Spanish Civil War, in odium fidei — for the charge of being a nun.
