Maria Pilar of St. Francis Borgia (born at Tarazona on Dec. 30, 1877), Teresa of the Child Jesus and of St. John of the Cross (born at Mochales on March 5, 1890), and Maria Angeles of St. Joseph (born at Getafe on March 6, 1905), Discalced Carmelite nuns of the Monastery of Guadalajara, Spain, were martyred on July 24, 1936, and beatified by Saint John Paul II on March 29, 1987. Maria Sagrario of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga was born at Lillo (Toledo) on January 8, 1881. A pharmacist by trade, she was one of the first women in Spain to be admitted to this qualification. Through her spirit of prayer and her love for the Eucharist, she was a perfect embodiment of the contemplative and ecclesial ideal of the Teresian Carmel. She was martyred on August 15, 1936, and beatified by Saint John Paul II in 1998. *Source: OCD Proper of the Liturgy of the Hours, July 24* ## Notes - OCD nuns; Monastery of Guadalajara, Spain (Maria Pilar, Teresa, Maria Angeles) - Maria Pilar Martínez García, María de san Francisco de Borja: martyred July 24, 1936 - Teresa of the Child Jesus and of St John of the Cross: martyred July 24, 1936 - Maria Angeles of St Joseph: martyred July 24, 1936 - Maria Sagrario of St Aloysius Gonzaga (Moragas Cantarero): martyred August 15, 1936; beatified 1998 - Guadalajara three beatified March 29, 1987 by Pope John Paul II - [[07-24-blessed-maria-pilar|OCD Proper]]
