> [[09-figures|↑ Back to TOC]] # Blessed María Sagrario of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga ## Biography Elvira Moragas Cantarero was born on January 8, 1881, in Salamanca, Spain. She became a pharmacist before entering the Discalced Carmelite monastery in Madrid in 1915, taking the name María Sagrario of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga. She served as mistress of novices and was known for her deep spirit of prayer and charity. She was martyred on August 15, 1936, during the Spanish Civil War.
