# Water (Living) ## The Way of Perfection WATER (LIVING). Living water is a symbol for contemplation. By this living water the Lord brings us to the end of the journey without our understanding how ([[tj-way-ccel-19|19.7]]). At the end of the journey the soul is engulfed in God and drinks abundantly from the fount ([[tj-way-ccel-42|42.5]]). Water has three properties: it refreshes, cleanses, and satisfies (19.3.6.8). It does not let the heat from worldly things detain the soul ([[tj-way-ccel-19|19.5]]). It leaves the soul bright and cleansed of all faults ([[tj-way-ccel-19|19.6]]), but when the soul in meditation reasons with the intellect something from the road will stick to the soul ([[tj-way-ccel-19|19.6]]). By means of this living water the Lord shows it in an instant more truths and gives clearer understanding of what everything is than we could have here below in many years ([[tj-way-ccel-19|19.7]]). It takes away thirst, but there can never be too much; in giving much God increases the capacity of the soul to drink much ([[tj-way-ccel-19|19.9]]).
