# Will (Of Person)
## The Interior Castle Glossary
The power to make choices, good or bad. The whole aim of the persons who are beginning prayer should be that they work with determination and with every possible effort to bring their will into conformity with God’s will. What cannot be done all at once can be done little by little. The soul should bend its will if it wishes that prayer be beneficial to it.
## The Way of Perfection
WILL. The power of loving. The Holy Spirit enkindles the will and binds it with a very great love ([[tj-way-ccel-27|27.7]]). In the prayer of quiet the will is held captive in this loving ([[tj-way-ccel-31|31.3]],[[tj-way-ccel-31|9]]). Everything in this book is directed toward the surrender of our wills to God ([[tj-way-ccel-32|32.9]]). Sometimes, the will may go about in the peace of the prayer of quiet for a day or two while the other two faculties are free ([[tj-way-ccel-31|31.4]]). “Excessive” love gradually takes away the strength of will to be totally occupied in loving God ([[tj-way-ccel-04|4.5]]). Our wills should be slaves to no one, save the One who bought us with his blood ([[tj-way-ccel-04|4.8]]). The Lord begins to commune with the soul in so intimate a friendship that he gives it back its own will and his own besides ([[tj-way-ccel-32|32.12]]). When the will is in the prayer of quiet it should pay no more attention to the intellect than to a madman ([[tj-way-ccel-31|31.8]]).
